Alberta
The H.E.R. Pregnancy Program, Edmonton, AB. The H.E.R. (Healthy, Empowered, Resilient) Pregnancy Program operates out of Streetworks, located at the Boyle Street Community Services in Edmonton. The H.E.R. program aims to assist street-involved pregnant women to access healthcare and social resources – ultimately supporting women to shape and attain their pregnancy and parenting goals. H.E.R. provides Indigenous cultural programming.
British Columbia
Sheway Pregnancy Outreach Program, Vancouver, BC. Sheway provides health and social service support to pregnant women and women with infants dealing with drug and alcohol issues. Sheway provides Indigenous cultural programming.
FIR, Vancouver, BC. FIR is a provincial, specialized perinatal service located in BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre in Vancouver, BC. FIR provides care to prenatal and postpartum women who use substances, and to infants exposed to substances in a primary care/interdisciplinary team-based model.
HerWay Home, Victoria, BC. HerWay Home (HWH) provides non-judgmental health care and social supports for pregnant and parenting women who have a history of substance use and may also be affected by mental health issues, violence and trauma.
Maxxine Wright Community Health Centre, Surrey, BC. The Maxxine Wright Community Health Centre supports women who are pregnant or who have very young children at the time of intake who are also impacted by substance use and/ or violence and abuse. Women do not need to have their children in their care to receive support provided there is an ongoing relationship with the child.
Manitoba
Manito Ikwe Kagiikwe – Mothering Project, Winnpeg, MB. The Mothering Project provides support and resources to women who are pregnant or who have given birth in the past 12 months, and are involved with substances. The project helps to provide vital resources including access to support groups, prenatal care, advocacy, and cultural opportunities. The Mothering Project provides Indigenous cultural programming.
Ontario
Substance Use During Pregnancy (SUPport) Clinic, Sinai Health, Toronto, ON. SUPport provides pregnancy care, counselling, and mental health aprenatal opnd addictions care. They care for patients without judgement or stigma and aim to make our clinic a safe space.
Program for Substance Use in Pregnancy (PRSPR), Maternity Centre of Hamilton, Hamiton, Ontario. PROSPR is an integrated prenatal and substance use care program for pregnant people with substance use disorders.
Breaking the Cycle – Mothercraft, Toronto, ON. A one-stop wrap-around program serving pregnant and parenting women who are struggling with substance use, and their young children (birth – 6 years).
My Baby and Me (Perinatal Addictions Clinic), Unity Health, Toronto, ON. My Baby & Me is a drop-in prenatal clinic designed to support individuals using substances in pregnancy. This clinic embraces a trauma-informed and flexible approach, and we support individuals who experience barriers in accessing prenatal care. There is no age or catchment requirement to access services at the clinic.
Toronto Centre for Substance Use in Pregnancy (T-CUP), Unity Health, Toronto, ON. The T-CUP programs offers multidisciplinary addiction, obstetric and neonatal care to pregnant women in an empathic and non-judgmental environment. The program is part of the Family Medicine Centre, located on the Ground Floor of St. Joseph’s.
Saskatchewan
Raising Hope, Regina, SK. Pregnant or early post-partum women with substance abuse issues and possibly other issues including child protection concerns or prior involvement, substandard/dangerous housing or homelessness, domestic violence. Raising Hope provides Indigenous cultural programming.
Indigenous-specific care
Indigenous focused wraparound care booklet. “A mustard seed of hope: culturally grounded approaches within wraparound care for pregnant and parenting women dealing with substance use and harm.” Booklet that describes Indigenous cultural services provided by wraparound care programs in Canada.
